Health mela to begin in Faridkot from Feb 2

FARIDKOT: Following directions from the Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the district administration has planned to organise a 3-day health mela at Nehru Stadium here from February 2nd to 4th.
This was told by the deputy commissioner Husan Lal on Wednesday in a specially called press conference in this regard. Member of Parliament from each constituency would preside over the function.
The DC said that under a special scheme of the health and family welfare ministry, health melas would be organised in each parliamentary constituency through out the state.
The funds for the melas had been provided by the Union government, said the DC. He told that Rs 9 lakh had been issued by the government of India for the mela in Faridkot district.
Teams of expert doctors from Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot, Dashmesh Dental College Faridkot and Adesh Institute of Cancer Research Muktsar would check up the patients and X-rays and tests for different diseases would be conducted free of cost in the mela, said the DC.
